The Freedom living equipment and enhancements (FLEE) Apocalypse storm kettle prototype has been undergoing preliminary testing at the FLEE encampment. As can be seen it works well, once primed with hot embers, burning a one inch square dendritic fuel rod (stick) at about an inch a minute, and boiling 500ml of water in three inches.
